We decided to check in and talk with you about a topic that, as we know, concerns you no less than us — the new Need for Speed game.
Hi everyone!
We decided to talk with you about a topic that, as we know, concerns you no less than us — the new Need for Speed game.
By now, many of you have probably already heard that Ghost Games is working on the next game in the series. We are happy to announce that by the end of 2017 you will have a new Need for Speed.
As the June EA PLAY approaches, we will share more and more new details with you. For now, we can tell you a little about certain aspects of Need for Speed and what they mean for you, for us as developers, and for the series as a whole.
First of all, we would like to thank you. When we started the reboot of the series in 2015, we were simply amazed by the amount of feedback we received from you. It became obvious to us how much Need for Speed means to you — and that is partly why we are here with you today.
Customization: we love it, you love it, everyone loves it. Is that surprising? Rest assured: we are firmly committed to keeping customization in the Need for Speed series. It is not going anywhere and will play as important a role as before.
Wee-woo-wee-woo! Let's talk about the police. There is nothing better than escaping a pursuit, racing through the city, feeling the police already breathing down your neck. Cops chase racers, racers escape the cops — and suddenly BAM! The police have brought the "Rhino" into the race. Can you handle it?
Whether you are test-driving a freshly tuned car or in a rapid race through canyons, you will need a world that not only looks beautiful but also gives you enough space to do whatever you want. We are taking the scale and intensity of what is happening to a new level; you will have the chance to let loose — whether on asphalt or dirt.
Burn rubber while taking a corner in a controlled drift; floor the gas as you escape the police in a spectacular jump. We are creating a world for you, but what matters most to us is what you will do in it.
Let's finish with one of the main topics of discussion: the always-online requirement. To say that this topic concerns you greatly would be an understatement, and we pay close attention to all the issues discussed so widely in the gaming community.
So, when the next Need for Speed comes out, you will be able to play in single-player mode completely without an Internet connection. Let's say right away: yes, this means you will be able to pause the game.
Need for Speed has an amazing history, and we at Ghost studio are very flattered and proud to have the opportunity to continue it. Very, very soon we will be in touch with you again.
A wonderful future awaits us!
