Patrick Söderlund's statement and new screenshots

Senior Vice President Electronic Arts Patrick Soderlund made a rather ambitious statement. It turns out that their racing series Need for Speed: Shift will compete with Gran Turismo and will definitely win. In some respects.

«I believe that Shift will be a direct competitor to Gran Turismo. I'm telling you this completely honestly. But do we want to compete with it in terms of scale — by the number of cars, the depth of their detail? Probably there's no point in that. But what really does make sense... I think their game is too sterile; it's more a collection of cars than a race. We, however, can offer something different. Our idea is to let the player feel as accurately as possible what it's like to race at enormous speed while sitting in a race car. In this we have no equal, and in this area we will surely beat Gran Turismo. I'm sure of that», — says Patrick.
