[NFS NEWS] Actor confirmed for lead role in Need for Speed film
Two-time Emmy winner and Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul will play the lead role in the upcoming feature-film adaptation of the video game Need for Speed.
The popular Electronic Arts game Need for Speed, known to all of us by that name, inspired screenwriters George and John Gatins to write a story that is not tied to any game in the series. John Gatins will also serve as one of the project's producers; EA representatives Patrick O'Brien and Mark Sourian will produce alongside him.
Scott Waugh, who directed "Act of Valor" in 2012, will take the director's chair. Production is set to get the green light early next year, and the film is expected to be released on February 7, 2014.
As a reminder, in July there were rumors that the lead role might go to the long-suffering Taylor Kitsch, but, as you can see, it didn't pan out. Nevertheless, since no denial followed, Kitsch could still appear in Need for Speed in a supporting role or as the main villain.
