[WOS] Team Mode

A unique team mode is a distinctive feature of World of Speed. In these races you will have to coordinate actions with your teammates, because victory in this mode is achieved by completing team objectives.

In the new video you will see a clear demonstration of the fact that crossing the finish line first does not guarantee victory. You can help your team by completing certain tasks or hindering the opposing team. Victory now depends not only on each player's individual skill. The most important thing is the coordinated interaction of all team members.

Team races are one of the modes in World of Speed where victory depends not only on a player's individual skill. The main thing is coordination of actions between race participants, because victory in this mode is achieved by completing team tasks.

Slightly Mad Studios tried to combine in World of Speed all the best from racing games and MMO. The result of these efforts was, among other things, a team mode where tactics, thorough preparation and planning decide everything. Each car in the game has its own characteristics that allow it to better perform certain tasks. Therefore, it is important for the team to agree among themselves who will take part in the race in which car and which tuning setup to use.

The winner of a team race is determined by the number of points. The main goal, of course, is to come first, but this is not the only way to win, because there are other tasks that can bring points to the team.

A good example of one of these tasks is Slipstream. If you stay close behind a car speeding ahead, your car will enter a zone of reduced air resistance, which will allow you not only to gain speed faster, but also to earn additional points.

One can also mention the Pathfinder task. Many tracks have special sections where you can take a shortcut. Using these sections during the race, you will bring additional points to your team.

Completing the Overtake task will definitely affect the result of the race. Any overtaking of opponents will bring points to the team's tally.

Corner Master is a task for the most experienced racers. Taking a corner along the ideal line is rewarded with points.

Sliding the car while entering a corner will also bring points. This task is called Sliding.

By completing several tasks at the same time, you can get an increased number of points. An ideal slide through a corner, for example, will bring not only points for Sliding and Corner Master, but also bonus points.

In addition, in each race four random team-wide objectives will be available, achieving which will bring a noticeable amount of additional points. For example, on some tracks you need to complete the Corner Master task five times. To achieve this objective, it is important for the team to identify one or several race participants who will try to take corners along the ideal line. At the same time, an ideal passage of the same corner by different participants will not count — the objective is shared by all team members. If you make a mistake, lose control and fall hopelessly behind, this will not prevent you from helping your teammates win.

In this article we have not covered all tasks and have not touched on some nuances, such as the ability to prevent the opponent from scoring points. Soon you will be able to try team races for yourself. The developers have announced that closed testing will begin in Q4 2014.
