All of us at Ghost are united by one passion... creating the best Need for Speed™. And at every stage of development, we are guided by community feedback. Everything we read, watch, or discuss with Need for Speed fans — whether it's comments on Facebook or Twitter, videos on YouTube, or discussions on Reddit — is extremely important to us, and we bring these ideas to life in the game we are creating.
Our PC player community in particular came to the consensus that first and foremost they would like to see an unlocked frame rate in Need for Speed, and we fully agree with them. To this end, we decided to delay the PC release date until spring 2016. The release dates for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One remain the same: November 3, 2015.
This will give us the necessary development time to improve the visual quality we can deliver on PC. We will also add the content updates that will have been released for consoles by that time, so they are available to all PC players from day one.
Need for Speed is also planned to become a live service, so we can provide an up-to-date game that constantly changes and evolves. We will continuously add free content updates and challenges so you can earn rewards and keep exploring the game.
Since this is a multiplayer game, stable server operation is paramount. In the coming weeks, we will hold a closed beta test on PS4 and Xbox One so you can help us test the server infrastructure and prepare for launch. We are working hard to ensure nothing spoils your game, including by using dedicated servers to avoid such a relic of the past as data migration.
We once again thank you for your ongoing passion for Need for Speed and dedication to the game, and we hope to see you on the streets of Ventura Bay.
