Shinkansen, snow and switchbacks: watch the first 6 minutes of Forza Horizon 6

Playground Games has shown exactly how the new installment of the premier racing arcade of our time will welcome players. The developers have released a full six-minute prologue for Forza Horizon 6, whose action this time will unfold in Japan.

The opening traditionally works as a high-speed tour through the game's different biomes and moods. Gameplay begins with a run in a 2024 Nissan GT-R Nismo racing alongside a high-speed train. Then the rhythm changes sharply: the virtual racer is dropped into snowy areas, where you'll fly over snowdrifts and pull off crazy jumps in a 2021 Polaris RZR Pro 4 rally truck.

But the main thing many people waited for the Japanese setting for is the atmosphere of narrow mountain roads. The local switchbacks are the place to test out a classic 1995 Porsche 911 GT2. The video's final chord is a drive in the sixth installment's cover car — the bold GR GT prototype (2025).

The soundtrack is matched to the visuals. The creators showcased several tracks that will set the tone for the whole festival. Among them are new tracks from SHIMA ("Rebirth"), Urbandawn ("Yuki Touge"), Milk Talk ("Enchanting Stranger") and a collaboration between TANTRON and Minami Nakamura ("Turbo Fire").

You'll be able to head out and conquer the Japanese tracks yourself on May 19, 2026 — the game will arrive on PC and Xbox Series consoles.
