Wreckfest 2: Deathloop 2, three cars and Chase mode in the ninth update

The ninth early access update for Wreckfest 2 is now available on Steam: the return of the iconic loop, three new cars, and two brand-new modes at once. Also, Bugbear Entertainment has hinted at soon-to-come modding support — the trailer showed tools for creating your own tracks.
Wreckfest 2 continues to gain momentum in early access: Steam has already received its ninth major update. This time Bugbear Entertainment focused on spectacle — it brought back the iconic loop, expanded the car roster and added two new disciplines at once.
Deathloop Returns
The main star of the update is the track The Drome, which has room for two configurations at once. Deathloop 2 develops the idea of the fan favorite from the first game, but now the loops come one after another — two of them in total. For those who prefer more down-to-earth combat, there's Double Cross: no loops, but plenty of intersections and banked turns.
Joining it is the new Hogtown location — a mud arena available in two variants: for derby and in an oval configuration.
Two New Modes
Two have been added to the discipline list. Classic Demolition Derby returns players to an arena where you need to wreck opponents and be the last one standing — there are no respawns here, so a destroyed car is out of the fight. Chase is built differently: the team of runners must reach the finish while pursuers try to catch them. In single-player, bots take the allies' places, and the player alone escapes the pursuit.
Three New Cars
The car roster has been replenished with three models. Blade — a nod to the third-generation Chevrolet Camaro IROC — and Hammerhead, reminiscent of the Volvo 240 Estate, have moved over from the first Wreckfest. Hatchback, meanwhile, is the newcomer: the developers describe it as a "hot hatch from the '90s," although visually it's closer to a 2000s Ford Focus.
Liveries and Modding
Another long-awaited innovation is livery sharing. Liveries created in the Crap It tool can now be released publicly: other players will find them through a publication browser with search by name and author. The author decides whether to allow their work to be edited.
Customization is only the beginning, though. Bugbear promised that full-fledged modding support will appear "soon," and the trailer teased tools for creating your own tracks: you can change the terrain and even generously place loops around the circuit.
Physics and More
The update also touched the technical side: car behavior, damage model, AI logic, sound and optimization have been reworked. Due to the physics changes, the leaderboards had to be reset. The full list of changes is traditionally provided in the update's patch notes.
