BeamNG.drive on PS5: $24.99 and no modding at launch

Just days remain until early access for BeamNG.drive on PlayStation 5, and Beam Team has finally announced the price — $24.99. The console version launches on October 19, 2026, without modding and the World Editor, and performance on the base PS5, judging by the preliminary preview, leaves something to be desired in places.

How much it costs and when it starts

Early access for BeamNG.drive on PlayStation 5 opens on Monday, October 19, 2026. Three days before that, Beam Team revealed the price: $24.99 — exactly the same as the PC version. A funny nuance: the project has been in development for 13 years, yet the console release has been priced at the same level as the computer one.

There are no official prices for the UK and Europe yet. Traxion suggests that, if parity holds, it could be around £19.20 and €22.50, but this is only the publication's estimate, not confirmed figures — we await an official announcement.

No modding or editor

At launch, the console build will come without modding. Its possible appearance in the future is at least being discussed, but World Editor will not appear on PS5 — that option is completely ruled out. At the same time, work on the console and PC versions is being done in parallel, so the game will not be left without support.

What about performance

In an early preview on the base PS5, the game mostly ran smoothly, but drops and crashes did occur — especially when there are many AI cars on the road: traffic noticeably hits the frame rate. BeamNG's signature features have not gone anywhere: the soft-body damage model and realistic physics remain the project's main trump cards.
