Rockport in a browser tab: Most Wanted (2005) launches without installation

An unofficial port of Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2005) has made its way to itch.io: an enthusiast under the nickname dezm0n adapted the original PC version for WebAssembly and WebGPU. Nothing needs to be installed, but a recent Chrome or Edge is required, and the career and autosaves are still being tested.
What is this build
On itch.io, a Need for Speed: Most Wanted — Web Port — an unofficial project by enthusiast dezm0n. It is based on the original 2005 PC version: the executable code was adapted for WebAssembly, and WebGPU is responsible for rendering. The initiative has no connection to Electronic Arts.
How to launch
No client download is required — just open the project page, click Run game, and then Start game. The interface is in English, and the car can be controlled with a keyboard or gamepad.
- Browser: the current desktop version of Chrome or Edge;
- WebGPU: support is mandatory, hardware acceleration must be enabled;
- Internet: game files are fetched as needed and remain in the cache, so the first launch may take time;
- Hardware: performance depends directly on the computer's configuration.
Settings and saves
By default, maximum graphics quality and 1920 × 1080 resolution are enabled — both parameters can be changed in the menu. Progress is stored in the browser, and through the file and save management section it can be exported and loaded back.
What's missing for now
Online races and LAN play are not supported. The author is still testing a full career playthrough and autosaving after a race, so the build remains experimental.
