BeamNG.Earth: the entire planet in one map at 1:1 scale

A mod called BeamNG.Earth has appeared in BeamNG.drive, turning the entire planet into one continuous location at 1:1 scale. You can start a drive anywhere — whether in your hometown or another country — and you won't have to switch maps. The project is still in beta, so it won't work without an internet connection.
One planet instead of the usual test map
BeamNG.Earth is not built like regular maps for BeamNG.drive. Instead of a limited area — the entire Earth at full scale, and the player chooses the starting point themselves. There are no borders between regions: you leave one city, keep driving, and end up in a neighboring country, with the game never interrupting.
The virtual world is assembled from real elevation data, satellite imagery, and cartographic materials. Roads, buildings, bridges, sidewalks, and vegetation are created by procedural generation — no one places them by hand.
Finding the right place
On the map, you can enter a city, street, or specific address. Then there are two options: instantly move to the selected point or build a route and get there yourself following GPS directions.
The road isn't empty
Other cars drive along the generated routes, and parked cars stand along the roadsides. Those who just want to look around will find autopilot useful: it drives the car along the planned route while observing the rules.
Weather and lighting as in reality
The mod can pull lighting and weather from current conditions in the selected region. If you want something different, both parameters can be adjusted manually.
Flights and geography
The recreated world includes mountains, rivers, and lakes, and airports now have runways. If you install aircraft mods, you can explore the same planet from the air.
Driving together: BeamMP
Multiplayer works via BeamMP, so it's easy to gather company for a round-the-world trip — you can travel across the virtual Earth as a pair or as a whole group.
What you'll need and what the limitations are
The mod is in beta. You need the Steam version of BeamNG.drive 0.40.x (or a build it is compatible with), free disk space, and a working internet connection: new areas load on the fly. Corners you've already seen are cached, so they load faster when you return, but you'll have to allocate tens of gigabytes for storage.
