Star Wars: Galactic Racer Scores 88 on Metacritic and Gets a Praise-Filled Trailer
The developers of Star Wars: Galactic Racer marked three weeks since release with a trailer in which the game is praised using journalists’ words. The arcade racer from veterans of Burnout and Need for Speed has 88 points on Metacritic, while Steam reviews are sitting at “Very Positive.”
A Trailer Made of Others’ Praise
Fuse Games and publisher Secret Mode have brought press reviews of their racer together in a single video. Instead of a music-driven gameplay montage, it features excerpts from reviews assembled into an accolades trailer: from “a modern racing classic” to “the best arcade racer in a generation.” There’s also a very personal admission — “my favorite racing game in recent years.”
What the Numbers Say
The critical reception was warm: the Metacritic average settled at 88, while the user score is 8.1. On Steam, the share of positive reviews is holding around 87%, and the store labels them “Very Positive.”
Sales, however, are not mentioned in the report at all: the publisher has not published official statistics, and there was no spike in online activity after launch either. So the video is more about the press reaction than commercial results — and no conclusions about a flop should be drawn from it.
Who’s Behind It
The project comes from Fuse Games — a studio assembled from people with experience working on Burnout and Need for Speed. Star Wars: Galactic Racer itself is an arcade racer set in the Star Wars universe, which launched on October 6.
