NFS: Undercover developers to be laid off

Electronic Arts has made a fairly harsh statement regarding the fate of some of its studios that failed to live up to the publisher's hopes this year.

Electronic Arts intends to start reducing the number of employees in its game business as early as next year. Although the list of those "getting the ax" has not yet been announced, analysts agree that these statements primarily concern the developers of Need for Speed Undercover and Rock Band 2. These titles did not justify the funds invested in their production and became the biggest failures for EA in recent years. And in the conditions of the global financial crisis, the publisher will not keep "freeloaders."

"Although we are seeing an overall increase in the quality of our products, unfortunately, we have a list of projects that completely failed to live up to our hopes," said John Riccitiello, CEO of EA.
