Need For Speed will never die (PS3, PSP, Xbox360, PC)
A couple of days ago, a rumor spread across the Web that the future of the Need For Speed racing series was under threat because publisher Electronic Arts intends to close the Black Box studio.
According to Joystiq, citing official EA sources who wished to remain anonymous, Need For Speed fans should not worry about this. The source confirmed that EA no longer plans to create a new studio in Vancouver, and also that Blackbox will indeed be closed. However, the intellectual properties Need For Speed and Skate, which Blackbox worked on, will simply pass into the hands of another internal studio - Burnaby.
The same source reported that the next NFS is being created by the famous Criterion Games team, which is responsible for the Burnout series, and the project uses an improved engine from Burnout Paradise. Finally, three different teams will work on the series, but in the end their number may be cut to two.
