A Little Information About the New NFS

EA today told Eurogamer that it plans to reinvent the Need For Speed series.

Need for Speed: Shift will arrive on PC, Xbox 360, PS3 and PSP this fall, alongside Need for Speed: Nitro for Wii and DS.

Need for Speed: World Online will launch this summer for the Asian PC market, and will only appear in the West in the winter.

"The urban underground style has been a manifestation of style in several Need for Speed games for a very long time, but Need for Speed: Shift will focus not on style, but on the driver's driving experience," said EA marketing boss Keith Munro.

"Shift is a racing simulator, not an arcade game. The game will feature not only realistic car behavior, but also the behavior of the driver himself. The cockpit view will return to the game, and you will be able to look around the car's cabin using the stick."

Munro believes that serious car enthusiasts "will love" Shift.

Shift is being developed by Slightly Mad Studios, which worked on games such as GT Legends and GTR 2. They are also being assisted in development by producer Michael Mann from EA Black Box and Patrick Söderlund from EA Games Europe.

"Need for Speed Shift is amazing, and I think players will like it. The technology behind that game, the details that only a team with such a racing pedigree could achieve, and the ability to make you feel the intensity of the race, is unprecedented. I look forward to the moment when our fans can try it!"

He also added: "Need for Speed: Nitro for Wii and DS will not be a clone of Mario Kart. Nintendo has already done an excellent job with the game."

“Instead, we are developing an arcade racer with a new and unique visual style, which is Need For Speed. The game will be very rich and deep, and it will be for both experienced racers and casual players."

"Nitro does not resemble any other previous game in the Need for Speed series in any way."

Need for Speed: World Online is a game that will be absolutely free, and it is being developed by the efforts of Black Box and EA Online.

"This game will give fans of the series licensed cars, parts and game modes from all Need For Speed games throughout the series' history."

"Players will be able to prove their superiority through challenging online competitions, as well as edit their profile and their vehicle."

Drawing inspiration from Battlefield Heroes and FIFA Online, World Online will surely gain fans.
