Today's car of the day is the Nissan Skyline 2000 GTR.
Many believe that this was the first, original Skyline, but that is not quite true. The Skyline has existed for 50 years. You can see this by reading the retrospective:

About the C10 series Skyline:
Production of this series began in 1968. By that time, Prince Motors and Nissan Motor Co. had completed their merger and released the car under the Nissan brand.
The first models were available only with four-cylinder engines (1.5L G-15, 1.8L G-18), but in 1970 inline-six engines (2.0L L20, 2.0L S20) also appeared.
The C10 series with the new engines was offered in the following models:
- 2000GT-X sedan and coupe (KGC10);
- 2000GT sedan (GC10);
- 2000 GT-R sedan and coupe (PGC-10, for the coupe - KPGC-10).
This series gained fame thanks to the 2000 GT-R 'Hakosuka'. The name Hakosuka (ハコスカ - Japanese) was given by fans of the car because of its boxy design. Hako means "box" in Japanese, and suka is the Japanese abbreviation for Skyline.
The two-liter engine (S20) that powered the GT-R produced 160 hp and was on par with the engines of the best racing cars of that time, because it was borrowed from a genuine racing car - the Nissan R380-II.
The 2000 GT-R quickly proved itself in motorsport. In less than 2 years, the sedan scored 33 victories in various races, and by the end of production (1972), that number had reached 50.
In Japan, the GT-R "Hakosuka" is perhaps the most famous car, while the Skyline is a true icon for Japanese car enthusiasts worldwide.
P.S. According to some sources, it was the owners of this car who became the first drivers to "preach" drifting.
