Details on NFS: Shift tuning

The guys at gamerzines.com, who received a copy of Need for Speed SHIFT for preview, have already told us about the "Upgrades" menu, and today they decided to share tuning details with us.
In the Tuning menu there are two screens, between which you can switch at any time - these are "Quick Tuning" and "Advanced Tuning".
Quick Tuning

Quick Tuning is the basic, simplified approach to tuning your car. It provides the player with several tuning options in four specific areas: steering lock, gearing, wheel balance (grip) and downforce.
Two of the four elements will be locked until you purchase the required upgrade part. For example, the ability to tune gearing will be unlocked as soon as you buy a Level 1 transmission, while the ability to adjust downforce will require the installation of an aerodynamic body kit.
Advanced Tuning

Everything stated above also applies to most of Advanced Tuning, with the only difference being that it offers greater freedom for tuning.
If you have all the necessary upgrade parts, you can tune individual elements: tires and brakes, springs and dampers, camber/toe/caster, differential, gearing and aerodynamics, and within much wider limits than are available in Quick Tuning.
For example, the "Aerodynamics" tab will let you adjust downforce on the front and rear axles and increase the radiator and brake cooling ducts. In turn, the "Gearing" tab will let you individually tune each gear.
Don't know what all this means? Don't worry! Audio tips will explain how tuning a particular element will affect the handling of your car on the track.
Next time, the "Visuals" menu will be covered, which will let you change the car's paint, vinyls and wheels.
