Mercedes-Benz, following the base versions of the Mercedes SL roadster, decided to update its high-performance AMG versions as well. The cars received an updated body design, became even more powerful and will be equipped with an upgraded suspension and braking system.The Mercedes SL AMG version, equipped with a supercharged V8 engine, received a new engine management system, an upgraded supercharger and a larger throttle body. As a result, engine output increased from 500 to 517 horsepower, and maximum torque from 700 to 720 Nm. Acceleration from zero to one hundred kilometers per hour for this version now takes 4.5 seconds, and its top speed is limited to 250 kilometers per hour.

The second modification, the Mercedes SL 65 AMG, is equipped with the same twin-turbo V12 engine as the new S-Class from AMG. Engine output reaches 612 horsepower, and its maximum torque is artificially limited to 1000 Nm. The newcomer takes just 4.2 seconds to accelerate from zero to one hundred kilometers per hour.

Both AMG versions of the SL roadster are equipped with an upgraded suspension based on the second generation of the Active Body Control system, which prevents body pitch during braking and acceleration and also reduces roll in corners. In addition, both roadsters will also receive new brakes with larger discs made of composite materials. According to the developers, these brakes are more effective than conventional ones and less prone to overheating.

The exterior of the Mercedes SL roadster has also changed slightly – new front and rear bumpers and upgraded exhaust pipes have appeared. Carbon and aluminum inserts are now used in the interior trim, and a RaceTimer device has been added to the instrument cluster, allowing the driver to monitor lap times on racetracks and analyze speed and acceleration readings.
