Lamborghini LM002

When you think of Lamborghini, Diablo, Countach, and Gallardo immediately come to mind — but there is a little-known model, the LM002.
This SUV was produced from 1985 to 1993. The car is 495 cm long, 200 cm wide, and 185 cm high. The car weighs 2.95 tonnes. It was fitted with a 5.1-liter V-12 engine. The company's engineers realized that the rear-engine layout typical of the early prototypes adversely affected the SUV's handling, so a completely new chassis was designed for the LMA002 prototype, with the V12 engine (used in the Countach) placed at the front in the classic layout. After a series of tests, the car entered series production. Power output was 450 horsepower at 6,800 rpm. Top speed was 203 km/h. Pirelli created special 345x17 tires for the car. The LM accelerates from 0 to 96 km/h in 8.5 seconds.
The cabin can accommodate 4 people, plus another 6 in the open rear body. The SUV has all the attributes of luxury: leather-upholstered seats, air conditioning, numerous electric accessories, a wood-trimmed dashboard, and a plush carpet on the floor.
301 cars were produced.
Production Lamborghini LM002s have high off-road capability and distinctive looks, but are extremely demanding when it comes to fuel, maintenance, and spare parts.
This SUV was mainly bought in the Middle East, because they cost more than the Countach.
In 1988, the company, with the help of outside specialists, began preparing the car to take part in the Paris — Dakar Rally. All excesses that increased the car's weight were removed. The car was equipped with uprated suspension, Plexiglas windows, and GPS. Engine power increased to 600 hp. The car did not take part in the rally due to a lack of funds, but nevertheless competed in the Rallye des Pharaons in Egypt and a rally in Greece.
