New interview with game producer John Doyle
There is already quite a lot written on the internet about NFS: Pro Street being an ultra-realistic game. Is that true?
We aren't aiming to create a mega-product, because the game must remain a game. Naturally we'll add realism to the gameplay, but the atmosphere of the previous games in the series will be preserved. The game will feature realistic damage, the car physics will be slightly changed, but still we're not going to make a game that will "get boring" with its "realism".
And what can you say to the fans of the earlier games in the series?
Well, the game will have many innovations, but still the car tuning system will be recognizable, the car tuning interface will be similar to the system from previous parts of the series, it will be impossible to get confused in it. The game will be fully customizable. For newcomers an "easy" variant of car customization will be available, and for those who haven't been playing NFS for the first year, we've provided a system for fine-tuning the car's movement. Also the player will be able to choose the career difficulty level: easy, medium and professional.
What features will you implement for those who like to play online?
Official information about the online mode of NFS: Pro Street will appear within a month. I can only say that certain innovations will appear. You won't be disappointed. Mostly, the online mode features will provide for playing with friends.
So you mean the player won't be able to play with anyone at all?
No, not at all. In the online mode there will be special rooms for playing with friends and with other players from all over the world.
You mentioned that if during a race the player wrecks his car, he can repeat the race in another one. And what happens if the player wrecks all the cars from the garage?
It will work a bit differently. For a certain type of race, the player will be able to choose the main car he'll drive and a "backup car". If the main car is wrecked, the player will be given the opportunity to repeat the race in the second car. If the second car is also wrecked, the race will have to be completed again, after the cars are repaired.
And what about the car list in the game?
The model lineup of NFS: PS will consist of models from 26 manufacturers. All cars will be divided into three classes: muscle, Japanese cars, and European models for tuning. We've reduced the number of supercars in the game to a minimum, since they wouldn't fit the atmosphere of NFS: PS.
There won't be police in NFS: PS, right?
Yes, we decided not to add police to the game, since in previous parts all attention was directed at police work and thrilling chases. In this part of the game everything will be concentrated on damage and expensive car repairs. But don't worry, repairing a car will be affordable for everyone.
Tell us a bit about the tracks in the game
The game will include the most scenic and popular tracks among racers. We've added the famous California track Willow Springs Raceway to the game.
What can you say about the PS3 version of the game
It will be an absolute analog of the XBOX 360 version.
And still, will there be any differences between the versions?
There will be minor differences only in the technical part. For example the XBOX 360 version will be more similar to the PC version.
Thank you very much for giving us your time
No problem, come again =)
