Only High Stakes tracks Career — an alternative career for NFS: High Stakes that keeps only the tracks from High Stakes. The author assembled it using the Career editor, as they are not sure when, or whether, AI for Hot Pursuit tracks will be ready. If you combine the mod with the author's AI, completing the career may prove very difficult.

• In tournaments, only the top three places receive money; in knockout, only first place does.
• AI difficulty is increased, and opponents often use cars that are the same as or better than the player's.
• Each track in the career has unique settings — no two races will be the same.
• The Chevrolet Cup is limited to the Camaro; winning can earn you a bonus Camaro.

The author tested roughly half of the career and notes that many races cannot be won without car upgrades.
